Is your community or faith based group applying for HUD funding?
Make a difference now. There are opportunities to volunteer in your community every day. Contact one of these organizations to find out more.
Write to your Senators and your Representatives to express your support for something that we know works. Future funding for supportive housing is now in committee.
In facing homelessness, we are fortunate in that we know what works. National studies, international studies, anecdotal evidence, and local success all point to Supportive Housing as the most effective response. The cost of it is equal to doing nothing at all.
The Ending Long-Term Homelessness Services Initiative (ELHSI) is a proposal for a new federal program, administered by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), that would provide individuals and families who experience long-term homelessness with the full range of services they need to stay off the streets. ELHSI is being developed by a broad coalition led by the Corporation for Supportive Housing, the National Alliance to End Homelessness, and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
