Worship at St Luke’s

If you are looking for a friendly, welcoming, family-sized congregation, St. Luke’s may be just the place for you!

Located about a mile from Thomas Jefferson’s home – Monticello – on one side, and the same distance from James Monroe’s home – Ashlawn-Highland – on the other, the church building is only a short distance from the city of Charlottesville.

Although the faithful have worshiped here for over a century, this is a church of less than 100 members.  Recent growth in numbers has not diminished the intimate atmosphere, and space limitations dictate that St. Luke’s will probably remain a small but viable church.  Need we be reminded that spiritual growth and Christian witness can flourish in a small congregation?

The norm for Sunday worship is Holy Eucharist: Rite Two, but Rite One is used during Advent and Lent.  Our style could be described as “traditional”; most people familiar with liturgical worship feel “at home” in our service.

A merciful and loving God is our primary resource, but the people of St. Luke’s follow close behind.  They are a glorious mixture of talents, ages, professions, and religious backgrounds.  Their openness and warmth create a loving atmosphere in which to praise and serve our Lord.

Hopefully this web site will answer your questions about St. Luke’s, but we welcome personal contact if you desire more information.
