St Luke’s recently adopted a new teaching structure for the Christian Education Program for the young people of the congregation. The young people attend the education program conducted during the 9:15 Sunday service. Members of the congregation have volunteered to teach Sunday School on a semi-regular basis and/or substitute teach as needed. At times, other church members may also volunteer to teach on special occasions. Lessons and activities go until about 10 AM then the children join the congregation in the church to take communion. At the end of the service the Sunday School group presents the lessons and projects they worked on in class. The first Sunday of the month will be a split class with two teachers. There will be a separate class for the Young Teens and another class for the Intermediate & Primary members. Future programs may include: · making wooden Candle holders and other wooden items under the supervision of an experienced woodworker. · helping students to get involved in community service activities — providing information about available programs and allowing them to choose which program they’d like to be involved with. · introduction to Stained Glass While the classes are small, the children really enjoy the friendships they’ve developed at St Luke’s and being part of the St. Luke’s Sunday School program. We know the children appreciate the efforts and involvement of the congregation. You can see it in their faces and in the way they treat one another. They really enjoy the friendships they’ve developed at St. Luke's and being a part of the St. Luke's Sunday School program.
