MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE TRANSFER STATION-IVY ($66.00/ton)
The RSWA Transfer Station at Ivy accepts municipal solid waste from private citizens and collection vehicles
servicing Charlottesville and Albemarle. Customers enter the station by making the first right turn after the scale house. The waste is loaded into the transfer trailers and taken to an offsite landfill.
BFI TRANSFER STATION-ZION CROSSROADS ($62.00/ton)
The BFI Transfer Station is located on 250 East near Zion Crossroads. This facility will accept municipal solid waste and large loads of construction and demolition debris from RSWA charge account customers. NO CASH CUSTOMERS. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 4:30 pm and Saturday 7:00 am - 12:00 pm. Please allow 15 minutes for unloading.
CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITION DEBRIS ($66.00/ton)
Small loads (pickup trucks or equivalent sized trailers) with construction and demolition debris will be accepted at the Material Utilization Center Transfer Station at Ivy. Larger loads will be directed to the BFI Transfer Station.
CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENT DESTRUCTION ($66.00/ton)
RSWA provides a confidential document destruction service. Organizations or individuals can be assured their confidential or sensitive documents are properly destroyed at an economic rate. RSWA issues a Letter of
Destruction for documents destroyed at the facility.
GRINDABLE VEGETATIVE MATERIAL ($46.00/ton)
Stumps, brush, and other vegetative material will continue to be ground into mulch for sale to the general public. The mulch is a finer grade of material than previously being offered due to the grinding and screening operation now being used.
WOODEN PALLETS ($46.00/ton)
Wooden pallets are accepted, ground into woodchips, and mixed with mulch.
CLEAN FILL MATERIAL ($7.50/ton)
RSWA still accepts clean fill material including brick, block, mortar, mixed soil, and road building materials.
MULCH ($15.00/ton)
RSWA produces a top grade mulch product by recycling wood waste that is brought to the Ivy Center. Stumps, brush, pallets and other usable organic debris, which would otherwise be landfilled, are ground into mulch. Magnets remove nails and other metal fragments to further refine our mulch product. Mulch is available for sale to the general public. If you need large quantities of mulch and have no means to haul it, RSWA can transport the mulch to you at a competitive price. Call the Ivy Material Utilization Center at (434) 295-3306 to schedule your delivery or to check on mulch availability. Delivery charge is $85.00, with a $20, $30 or $40 surcharge based on your delivery area.

For a nominal fee, 32 gallon trash bags with trash stickers may be deposited at a waste container located at the Convenience Center (turn right on road prior to the scale house). Each bag (up to 32 gallons in size) must have a RSWA sticker. Stickers can be purchased in sheets of 12 from the Convenience Center or the scale house attendant.
