GEORGE F. HIXSON FELLOWSHIP The Kiwanis International Foundation established the Hixson Fellowship in 1983 to honor George F. Hixson, the first president of Kiwanis International, and to build the endowment fund for the International Foundation. The Worldwide Service Project was adopted by Kiwanis with the goal of virtually eliminating iodine deficiency disorders, the world’s leading cause of preventable mental retardation in children. Each contribution of $1,000 will touch the lives of 20,000 children. Kiwanis International, known for serving the
world’s children, has made a commitment to the children of the world to
make this program successful. Most recent George F. Hixson Fellows: 2007 F. R. Lentzsch Alfonso G. Canales
