Third Annual Dogwood Pancake Breakfast

"What a Wonderful Event!"

The third annual Kiwanis Dogwood Pancake Breakfast was held on the most beautiful day of spring, Saturday, April 21, at First Presbyterian Church, 500 Park Street.  Hundreds of hungry kids of all ages enjoyed endless rolls of sausages and stacks of flapjacks, all lathered with butter and drenched in yummy maple syrup.  Kiwanians led by Kitchen Chief Tony Hastoglis prepared the feast, while Key Clubbers from Albemarle and Western Albemarle High Schools, UVA Circle K-ers, and other K-Family members served cool orange juice and refills of hot Starbucks coffee.  Acoustic guitar music, provided by a member of the Young Professionals Kiwanis Club of Tysons Corner, and the delightful antics of "Dusty Rusty" stirred the crowd into joyful anticipation of the 58th annual Dogwood Festival Parade stepping off just two blocks away.  More than $8,000 was raised in support of the Infant Development Program of the Arc of the Piedmont.  "Team Kiwanis" food and drink sponsors included Sam's Club, Pepsi Cola Central Virginia, and Starbucks Coffee.  Print materials were generously donated by MidAtlantic Printing and Kaminer & Thomson.  Hats off to the dozens of other sponsors whose logos graced our placemats.

Infant Development Project

The Infant Development Project helps parents create a stimulating environment for their babies. The Infant Development Project is an early intervention program that serves families with infants ages birth through three with disabilities, developmental delays, or who are at risk of developing delays. We offer developmental assessments, cognitive skills building, speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy for infants. For parents, we provide counseling, developmental guidance and education. The goal of the Infant Development Project is to prevent or reduce the severity of developmental delay in infants.
